RankRxBot
RankRxBot is the crawler for RankRx, a website audit tool operated by Drizzle Technologies.
It visits a website for one of two reasons: someone asked RankRx to audit that site, or a site being audited links to it and RankRx is checking that the link still works.
How to recognize it
RankRxBot identifies itself with this user agent, exactly:
RankRxBot/1.0 (+https://rankrx.io/bot; SEO audit link checker)
A request that does not carry this user agent is not RankRxBot.
What it reads
RankRxBot reads public pages only: the same pages anyone can open in a web browser. It never logs in, never submits a form, and never reads anything behind a password.
robots.txt
RankRxBot follows robots.txt. It reads a site’s robots.txt before it requests anything else there, and it does not request any page the file asks it not to. It follows the rules written for RankRxBot by name, or the rules written for every crawler when none name it, including rules for part of a site. If robots.txt blocks RankRxBot from the whole site, it reads nothing there.
It keeps its visits light
RankRxBot is built to keep its visits light, so that it does not strain your site.
How to block or allow it
To block RankRxBot from your whole site, add this to your robots.txt:
User-agent: RankRxBot Disallow: /
To block it from part of your site, name that part instead:
User-agent: RankRxBot Disallow: /private/
To allow it, you do not need to add anything. RankRxBot reads any public page your robots.txt does not block. If a firewall or security plugin blocks RankRxBot, allow requests that carry the user agent shown above.
What happens to the pages it reads
RankRx keeps copies of the public pages RankRxBot reads. It uses them to produce the audit that was requested and to improve its checks. Our Privacy Policy explains what we keep and for how long.
